I’ve been teaching Pilates since 2011. I was initially drawn to it as I was intrigued by how some of my students (who did both Pilates and Callanetics) were very aware of their own posture and body awareness. I quickly became a huge fan of Pilates and it’s incredible benefits and possibilities so decided to undertake a Pilates Teacher Training Course. I did all of my training in London with Future Fit Training and since qualifying have bolted on a Certificate in Pilates for Common Orthopaedic Conditions.

The Pilates method was founded by Joseph Pilates in the early 20th Century. Born in Germany 1880 he was plagued by rickets, asthma and rheumatic fever as a child. Determined to overcome his health problems he developed an exercise programme that assisted in restoring him to good health. During WW1 Joseph was interned as a Prisoner of War by the British Army where he trained his fellow internees.

In April 2015 I was lucky enough to work with an inspirational woman called Lolita San Miguel who is only one of two people to have been personally certified by Joseph Pilates.

I spent a great day with Lolita learning lots of invaluable information about the Pilates method and the great man himself – Joseph Pilates. I am delighted to have been given this rare opportunity to work with Lolita as she usually works from her studio base in Florida, USA.

Our Mat Based Pilates Classes are suitable for all fitness levels. All classes are operated as 6 week block, progressing the levels every week. Each block will take you through the fundamentals of Pilates and as you progress developments and modifications will be made to your workout. Upon completion, we move onto the next block.
